Like I have said before...I have a Twincredible life!

TWINcredible Mama vs. Crazy comments...

So, Mama's whats the deal? Why oh why to people have no filters.

We have gotten so many different weird, rude and odd comments...like...

"Wow you must have your hands full!"
"When did you find out your were having twins?" - we all know they are asking "did you have IVF?"
"Aren't you Glad you didn't have triplets?"
"When you found out you having twins were you excited? Did you want to keep them both?" AHH are you kidding?
"Are you going to have more?" The first time I was asked this it came from a nurse and the TWINcredibles were about 5 minutes old :)
"Are Identical?" We have a boy and a girl?!?!
"Wow, he is so cute, and she looks nothing like him" Did you just say my daughter is ugly?
"Do you still like having twins when they both cry?"

This comment was quite odd:
let me set this up for you...we were at Target, the TWINcredible were ready to leave and we where heading towards the door when both twins started yelling "OUT" "OUT" at the top of there lungs...they a women walking towards us Jumps in front of the stroller and yells "hi" to which the twin become totally silent...she looks up at me and says to her daughter standing right next to her
"I got her babies to stop crying, what kind of mom is she...not a good one I guess" Umm ??????

And this was just really unexpected:
We were at Costco waiting on my husband and older son to get pizza so we could leave...when this woman come pushing her cart right up to me and says kind or rudely and short --
"Are those twins?" Yes!
"Are they a boy and a girl?" Yes! - she interrupts and says "oh so they are fraternal"
"How old are they?" 21 months
"These are my twins, they are 3 and they are Identical girls...they are real twins!" then she turns around and walks off leaving me stunned...that was the first time that I have ever had another twin mom act they way and I was shocked!

With that I will leave you with this....
This always makes me laugh...because it is SO SO very true...isn't it! :)

TWINcredibles vs. The Potty...

The TWINcredibles have been interested in the potty for about 5-6 months...OK well, Super Si has been, Wonder Gab is not so sure!

In May it had gotten to the point where Si would go potty on the potty every single time he needed to go. He really wanted Gabbi to "go potty" too, but she wouldn't...no matter how long or how often she would sit on the potty. With his twin showing no interest, Si lost his. This is no big deal, I mean they were only 19 months.

Their older brother was interested in the potty before age two and using a potty game was potty trained within a week.

Let the games begin...
Mama's Potty game -
all you need is a

  • a potty
  • a egg timer
  • a reward for when they go potty...weather it is a treat or a prize they can play with.

For my game I set the timer for 15 minutes, once the timer rings have fun and race to the potty, I found with our older son the more excited and animated I was the more fun he had. I set the timer for every 15 minutes for one whole day. Then the next day 30 minutes and so on. I never scold when they don't go potty and I never scold if they have a accident...I'm the one training them so it is my responsibility to make sure I am doing my job! When there is a accident I usually say things like "uh oh, now lets go try on the potty" and I also shorten the time on the timer by 5 or so minutes.

I can't wait to see how the TWINcredibles do with the Potty Game!

I'll keep you posted!! :)

The TWINcredibles vs. Bedtime...

The first 18month... TWINcedibles bedtime would usually go like this: At 6:45 I would nurse, they would fall asleep and I would quietly slip out of the bedroom. With the exception of a here and there night when Gabbi would hear me and wake up that's how bedtime went...sounds nice right...the problem? It could take 2 or more hours just to get to the point where I could leave the room, then very often Gabbi would wake up within 30 minutes and I‘d have to get her back to sleep again...UGH

So, this was bedtime, until I had finally had enough... at 18month old.
I have no idea what happened. Like always, nursed, they fell asleep, but...when I tried to get up SCREAMS!! After nighttime taking a total of 3 hours that night, enough was enough...I was going to do something different. The next night, when we headed to bed I had a plan! The twins very quickly fell asleep, and I thought 'Maybe last night was a fluke' Nope, it wasn't, when I tried to get up...yup...crying. But, instead of starting all over again, I kissed them and left them tucked in and left the room. After about 20 minutes they were fast asleep! The 20 minutes sucked, I hate hearing them sad, but they need sleep and they weren't getting it, something needed to change! With the exception of one night when Gab was feeling sick. Nighttime has become no stress! Bed time has gone from the 20 minutes, 10 minutes, 5 minutes! Then there was Monday night and Tuesday night: Nighttime nursing, then tucked them in and left the room, they were asleep with in 20 seconds! I am thrilled, my babies are getting awesome sleep and learning to fall asleep without Mommy touching them (you mama's know what I am talking about:)

It's funny I didn't realize how much bedtime was effecting the next day. Now, I see how it was. When bed time would take hours , by the time they were sound asleep to where I could leave the room, it would be my bed time! So, I wasn't getting to have much needed Husband time, Elias' school set up for the next day, or even just a little bit of time to my self!

My husband have had so much time together, we have been able to watch our favorite show together, I've helped him edit photos from some of his photo shoots and we have even fallen asleep on the couch together...more than once:) In addition to that, Elias has been thrilled with the school days I have been planning, my little guy love to learn and love science...so that has been my focus! Oh, yeah and the other night I took a bath...yes, a bath, I don't even recall the last time that happened!!

This past week we embarked on a brand new journey...moving the TWINcredibles from our bedroom into their bedroom. We are the ultimate co-sleeping family, but the twins have just reached the point where it is time...and I am thrilled! Monday night they went to sleep in their own room and slept for 7 hours straight...totally unheard of in our house, sleeping through the night has been a huge issue for the twins, reflux, being too hot or being too cold...there is always something. So, I wasn't surprised  at about 5am they woke up and came into our room...which was totally fine...honestly I was surprised that it was 5am, I truly expected midnight maybe 1am! This is how it has been for the last few night have gone, and I am thrilled at the progress!!! Progress is progress and I expect them to be sleeping through the night before we know it!

Happy Mama makes Happy Babies! Happy Babies who have had a good night sleep makes a Happy Mama!!
